For the Washington History Seminar, Jason C. Parker presents his book Hearts, Minds, Voices: US Cold War Public Diplomacy and the Formation of the Third World (Oxford University Press, 2016), which is the first study of US Cold War public diplomacy focused on the global South. He argues that the American war for hearts and minds during the Cold War inadvertently nurtured the "Third World" as a transnational imagined community on the postwar global landscape.
